pidgin-google-contact's Issues

Documentation confusing

Hi, thanks for this, it's a great idea. It would really help if there was a
description of what this is supposed to do. I'd be glad to help write it, if I
can figure out what it does.

Does it add data from pidgin to google? What?
Does it add data from google to pidgin? What?

If I have several google accounts I use via pidgin, will it update both? Will
it only update them with the contacts that pidgin associates with that account?
For example, if I talk to person A1 via account A, will it add him to all of
my google accounts or only account A? What about non-google accounts, e.g.
Skype does it add those to all of the google accounts?

If I IM with someone who is not a contact in any of my google talk accounts,
where will that person's data go, if anywhere? Does it create a new record in
the google contacts?

These kinds of questions made me very hesitant to install this plugin but I did
anyway because it sounds very useful. But I'm still not sure what exactly it
did when I installed it.

So please, either add some documentation answering these questions, or let me
know you'd like some help and I'll email you and you can explain that stuff to
me informally (via IM, for example) and I'll write it up for you.

Thanks again, sorry to be nit-picking, just trying to make it more useful to
more people.

Enable/disable plugin for individual Google Talk accounts?

Love the idea. Pidgin has needed this functionality for a long time.

I currently have multiple Google Talk accounts added to Pidgin. One is a
gmail.com address, and one is a Google Apps (custom domain name) address. I'd
like to specify the plugin to only use my gmail.com address for syncing
contacts. I use my Google Apps contact list very specifically for coworkers and
business contacts; I don't want everyone in my buddy list added there.

This plugin would be usable for me if I could elect to only enable it for one
specific Google Talk account.

Thanks for the great work!

Doesn't work

Hey all, great idea to sync the IM-Contacts to Google Contacts. Unfortunately
it isn't working in my case.
I set the time period to "0". But where do I have to set the information for my
GoogleContacts-Account? How could this plugin now where to write the data to?
Would that be an explaination why it is not working?

Best regards
Dave
