You may play the game online in itch.io.

To download and play locally (requires python3):

We started this project back in 2020, during the 3rd year of our undergrad studies. This game was developed as part of a 24 hours long marathon, as a fun, casual and educational project.

Almost three years later, we decided to revive it as a side project. We keep enhance and maintain the game as a hobby on our free time.

Improve player sprite

Improve the sprite and add fuel animation

Add a global leaderboard on itch.io

Add player and enemies hp bars

No more insta death

Add screen shake when enemy dies

Also add an option to disable it under options menu (#31)

Change screen border player bouncing mechanics

Change the weird mechanic where the player bounces off the borders of the screen
Idea: Warp to the other end of the screen (like Pacman). Mirror/Duplicate the player so it warps smoothly.

Clear branches and create "legacy branch"

Collisions of player and enemies seem to be off (or use wrong bounding boxes).

Add more sounds

More enemy death sounds
Player death sound
Pause sound (?)

Change movement system

WASD - move
Mouse - look
LMB - shoot
RMB - special ability?

Add options menu

Control SFX volume and other options that will be added (for example - music volume, shake screen, etc.)

Add weapon power ups

Bullet power
Rate of fire
Bullet speed
Number of bullets

Add dynamic animations for spaceship and shots

Split Game class to Game and App classes.

Add "HP" mechanism

for example - the spaceship can be hit 3 times before it dies.

Fix shot animation alignment

Projectiles are shot from the wrong place - not from the front center of the spaceship.

Increase difficulty with time

Possibly by increasing speed of enemies.

Add debug flag

When enabled will display FPS, bounding boxes, etc...

Add death animation to enemies

Configure butler for easy deployment with itch.io

Ideas:
Laser (instant hit, relatively fast, piercing? Maybe only at high level?)
Shotgun (spread, short range, damage scales with distance)
Sniper (slow and powerful)
Smg (weak but fast)
Missle (slow, powerful, explosion damage)
Poison (damage over time)
Electricity (bounce between enemies)
Ice (slow/freeze)
