commerce-demo's Introduction

Urban Hipster - Commerce 2 & Drupal 8 Demo

This is a full Commerce 2 demo website built on Drupal 8. It has been built for 3 reasons:

  1. So that people can view, interact and login to an actual working demo site.
  2. So that developers can install, trial and review code and configuration.
  3. So that the community can see and discuss what Drupal Commerce includes basically out of-the-box.

NOTE: This is NOT intended to be a base for building a new project, for that we recommend generating your own composer files or use the Commerce Kickstart.

Welcome!

The Urban Hipster demo site has been designed, built and maintained by Acro Media Inc. in order to showcase a working demo of Commerce 2 on Drupal 8. Our goal is to provide an enterprise level example of what can be done out-of-the-box with general software configuration and theming.

Please understand that while we strive to keep the site and its components updated to the latest versions, there may be times where we lag behind a bit.

If you notice any bugs, please submit an issue. We’ll do our best to keep on top of things.

Where to start?

View the demo site

If you still haven’t seen the demo site, check it out!.

Click around, take the interactive guided tours, go through the checkout flow, whatever. This site is made so that you can truly experience what Commerce 2 and Drupal 8 offer as a standard.

Get a personalized tour

If you’d like to have one of our experts go through the site with you and discuss how things work, use the demo site chat or send us a message. We’ll set something up that works around your schedule. You can contact us through are website here.

Developer access

If you’d like to setup a copy of the demo yourself, follow these instructions.

Lando

Requirements

  • Lando
  • General knowledge on how to use this tool

To setup the site

  1. Clone or download the files.
  2. Cd into the cloned repo and run inv setup
  3. Go through the Drupal 8 install process.
    • Enter drupal8 as the database name, username and password.
    • Click on "Advanced Options" and enter database as the host.
  4. View the site!

To setup Solr search

  1. Go to yoursite.com/admin/config/search/search-api and edit the server named Solr.
  2. Change Solr host to solr and save.
  3. Reindex the Product and POS indexes.
  4. Update site and store email addresses entered in the following locations:
    • Site: yoursite.com/admin/config/system/site-information
    • Stores (each store): yoursite.com/admin/commerce/config/stores
    • Order types (each type): yoursite.com/admin/commerce/config/order-types
    • Webforms (each form): yoursite.com/admin/structure/webform

Issues

Bugs

If you notice any bugs, please submit an issue. We’ll do our best to keep on top of things. Any bugs found for specific modules should be directed to that modules issue queue on Drupal.org.

Troubleshooting

Please note, our team is busy completing service work for clients, and thus, we will not be able to help you with setting up the demo on your own. If you’re having trouble, some things that could cause your issue are:

  • Is your site running on PHP 7.1 or higher?
  • Are your Drupal file & folder permissions correct?
  • Flush caches (i.e. through Drupal UI or run ../vendor/drush/drush/drush cr from within /web)
  • Update entities (i.e. run ../vendor/drush/drush/drush entup from within /web)
  • Update database (i.e. run ../vendor/drush/drush/drush updb from within /web)
  • Solr server can be reached and indexes have been rebuilt?
  • Have you consulted the software/tool documentation?

If those don’t help, Google the issue or submit an issue to our issue queue. Google will probably be your best friend :)

Let us set it up for you (and other stuff)

If you’re a business and interested in having Acro Media setup the demo for you, or if you’d like to talk to us about something else, contact us!

commerce-demo's Issues

[FEATURE REQUEST] Provide config export

First, I want to say that it is great that you created this repo, give admin access to the back end, and created a great series of videos. Given all that, it would be awesome to see a config export in the repo. I know, I'm an ungrateful ( really, I am grateful ), greedy jerk, but sometimes I just want to look at the config for something so I can compare with my own config ( so I can see where I went wrong ).

Anyway, thank you again for your generosity.

Broken/missing handler in product view

Hi, from Coldstream and thanks for the demo. Installed locally and pretty much works like the online demo. Possible bug with the view Products (Index Products) getting missing handler. Thought its a local issue, but also shows when logged into the online demo site.

Database credentials

Can you confirm database creedentials please.

I'm installing into a hosted environment. Created DB, ran import then created user account:
$databases['default']['default'] = array (
'database' => 'aaaaa-xxxxxxxx', (aaaaa is hosted account id)
'username' => 'yyyyyyy',
'password' => 'zzzzzzzz',
'prefix' => '',
'host' => 'localhost',
'port' => '3306',
'namespace' => 'Drupal\Core\Database\Driver\mysql',
'driver' => 'mysql',
);

But get database error on connection.

Thanks

Standardize vocabulary names on plurals

We have "product_categories" but also "brand" and "special".
The general convention is for vocabulary names to be plural, so the singular ones should be renamed (brands, specials, etc).

Modify the images in drupal commerce 8

down vote
favorite
I am currently working on Drupal 8 and Drupal commerce.

I have created an image field called "field_image_category" in the product-variation-types called "default".

I have created a color field as an attribute called "attribute_color".

I have copied the file commerce-product.html.twig in my theme.

if I want to show only the image field and the variation field where the color is displayed and the add button to the cart, I do it with the following code

{{ product.variation_field_imagen_category }}
{{ product.variations }}

if I want to modify the images and only show the small images I do it with the following code

 {% for  img in    product.variation_field_imagen_category  %}
     {% if img.entity %}
      {% for  imgv in  img %}
        {# Set product thumbnail. #}
         {% set imagen1 = {
          '#theme':'image_style',
          '#style_name': 'thumbnail',
          '#uri': imgv.entity.uri.value,
          '#alt': imgv.alt}
         %}
       {{ imagen1  }}
      {% endfor %}
     {% endif %}
    {% endfor %}
{{ product.variation_field_imagen_category }}

my problem is that if I have two colors as an attribute of a product, the modified images do not change and only the image field called

{{ product.variation_field_imagen_category }}
How can I achieve that when I select a color, I also automatically change the small images that I have added?

Drupal already installed

To start over, you must empty your existing database and copy default.settings.php over settings.php.
To upgrade an existing installation, proceed to the update script.
View your existing site.

what are u thing about this,

How to hide user profile form for "Pay In Store" / "Cash" payment types and "Pickup In Store" shipping type?

At now when user select "Pay in Store" or "Cash" payment type, Drupal continues to require enter Street address, City, State, Zip code for the user.

And same problem is for "Pickup In Store" shipping method - how to hide required fields of user profile form for this Shipping type?

If user will pickup and pay manually on store, why we require user to enter this info? Is there any ways to hide this form?

Use recommended products more

This functionality is great, but it's only visible on the custom-mason-jar product, making it really easy to miss. I'd add random recommended products to each product, making the functionality more visible.

Typo in Readme.md

In the Lando setup section number 5 on the list says :
"Extract dumps/database.sql and run lando db-import dataase.sql."
But it should say :
"Extract dumps/database.sql and run lando db-import database.sql."

Just missing a "b" in the lando command. :)

demo with content?

Could you put up an installation with the demo content shown in Urban Hipster? That would help in understanding how to get started with commerce. Like the Kickstart install with demo content.

Issue with new installer?

Hi folks,

firstly, many thanks for your multiple ressources out in the community!

How to install on windows

Could any of you can help me to install the demo site on windows with wamp, i follow the steps on the Readme file, but i'm unable to install the demo site :-(

Upgrade Search API Solr module to 3.x

Search API Solr 3 has been released, and 1.2 will be unsupported in December.

Related to #10, I still see instructions to use Solr 7, but the current version of Search API Solr (1.2) only supports up to Solr 6. With this upgrade comes the ability to use Solr 7 out of the box.

Question about front end product views

A small support request if I may.

I'm a bit confused by the catalog and featured product views. I see that you are using the product type teaser, however there is product variation stuff, such as the 'add to cart' button and variation image which is not displayed in the front end views. Are these items being being hidden somehow?

Simplify the product/variation types

Both bags and masks have 1 product each. Furthermore, they have 1 color attribute each (instead of sharing one). These 2 products showcase color selection.

Suggestion:

  1. Create a "Color" attribute and assign it to Clothing.
  2. Remake the 3 clothing products to have colors.
  3. Remove the bag and mask product and variation types, along with the tote color / mask color attributes.

Is admin access allowed?

It would be great to take a look at what you have done with the backend from a sitebuilder / store owner perspective.

Is admin access allowed for the demo?

BTW. This is brilliant work. Inspirational. Thank you

Unable to find template

I have next problem

Lando db-imprt file not found

I have tried from dump folder and in root app folder, no luck,

I have tried reinstalling lando but still it say file not found

My lando version is v3.0.0-rrc.3

The website encountered an unexpected error

Twig_Error_Loader: Template "/commerce-demo/web/themes/custom/commerce_2_demo/templates/pages/includes/site_header.html.twig" is not defined in "themes/custom/commerce_2_demo/templates/pages/page--front.html.twig" at line 13

Solr config issue and fix

Just a quick note if someone else has issues with solr.
I had to edit the solr config here: /admin/config/search/search-api/server/solr_5/edit
Solr host needs to be: "solr"
Solr port: 8983
based on the data from "lando help" command
I would have exported the config but after running "Drush updb" there is a ton of config that needs to be added

demo install doesn't create

The scripts at the following link:
https://github.com/AcroMedia/commerce-demo

Do not create ANY of the config or content in the demo at the following link:
https://commercedemo.acromedia.com/

The description of this "commerce-demo" however, implies that running the complex composer install supplied will create a copy of the demo at the link just above, but it does not do any of that.

In fact, the installed empty site has to be MySQL hacked just to create a login:

To actually distribute a copy of the demo that is easy to install, you may want to consider using the model employed by the morethanthemes group (see link below). The morethanthemes team simply supplies a .zip of the MySQL database and a .zip of the code from the site docroot - without a settings.php - which can then be simply unzipped and run {site}/install.php, enter DB credentials and admin(1) login credentials and the site is ready to use:

https://github.com/morethanthemes/showcase-lite

The methodology employed by the morethanthemes team doesn't involve any complex composer scripts or complex git configurations of any kind. Note that the distributions from the morethanthemes team DO NOT use the complex - non-standard - composer project scheme that create a two level directory scheme with some Drupal code at one level and the rest on a ./web subdirectory, which is not the same as the .zip archive available for download from drupal.org.

Your commerce demo might help people trying to learn Drupal 8 Commerce.

You could/should make it easy for people who want to learn Drupal 8 Commerce to work with and learn your demo (... i.e. no non-standard composer scripts required, and not direct git repository required).

You could/should quickly assemble a downloadable copy of your Drupal 8 Commerce demo in the style implemented by the morethanthemes team.

Replace the "default" product/variation type with a "simple" one.

Right now we rely on the Commerce-created "default" product and variation type, for products that have no attributes. When moving the types to a module "default" won't be exportable cause it belongs to Commerce. This also prevents us from having custom settings for it in the future (such as enabling single-variation mode once it gets added).

I suggest creating our own "simple" product/variation type and moving the default products to that.
I've done that as a part of the commerce_demo module work, so we can wait until adopting the module if the task itself is too time consuming at this point.

Twig_Error_Loader with new and db installation

Is this related to Theme registry doesn't find templates in subfolders for self-defined theme hooks https://www.drupal.org/node/2817103 ?

Generating own composer files

You said in the description "NOTE: This is NOT intended to be a base for building a new project, for that we recommend generating your own composer files " How to do it?

View Products with a price

Hi, how could you create view products with a price, even when the product has several variations?

Could you tell me how they did it?

Document that Solr 5.5 is needed

"brew install solr" gives you 7.2, "brew install solr55" is needed instead.

Solr 7.2 is only supported by Search API Solr 2.x, which is currently at alpha2, and should probably mature more before we upgrade to it.

composer install

cloning failed using an ssh key for authentication, enter your github credentials to access private repos
... go to github to retreive a token.

How can I do that, I can not find it?
Thanks in advance

ERROR ==>

c:\LandoData\uhdemo>

Database errors related to doctrine/annotations and demo template

I'm installing the demo package into a shared hosting env (siteground) running under PHP7.1 (actually 7.1.21). Install appears to run clean (Compose install, database load, etc.) however browsing to site generates a 'database error come back later' message.

Attempt to follow debug path but Drush CR fails
Error: Uncaught TypeError: Return value of Doctrine\Common\Annotations\AnnotationRegistry::reset() must be an instance of Doctrine\Common\Annotations\void, none returned in /home/<user_id>/public_html/comm/vendor/doctrine/annotations/lib/Doctrine/Common/Annotations/AnnotationRegistry.php:55

I've found I can use Drush to switch default theme to Bartik then Uli to connect access system as admin where I can clear cache, etc.

I can also view content using bartik, so that all looks good, however re-enabling the demo theme gives the database error and log report:

  | Twig_Error_Loader: Template "/web/themes/custom/commerce_2_demo/templates/pages/includes/site_header.html.twig" is not defined in "themes/custom/commerce_2_demo/templates/pages/page--front.html.twig" at line 13. in Twig_Loader_Chain->getCacheKey() (line 129 of /home/paudax02/public_html/comm/vendor/twig/twig/lib/Twig/Loader/Chain.php).

I get the feeling this problem relates to incompatiabilities between PHP7.1. 21 and doctrine/annotations 1.6 but install seems to run clean. Any thoughts? Exactly what versions are you using?
