.NET Framework 4.5 about open3mod HOT 7 CLOSED

The original assimp.net is still in the assimp repository - you can grab it from there and build it.

Maybe we'll again have a download for it with the next assimp release.

As for open3mod, I think it'll be critical to backport it to at least .net 3.5 so that we can avoid .net 4.5 install. I overestimated the install base for 4.5.

Why not backport to 4.0? This version works also on XP.

I think, from a .net stability (and perhaps security to) point of view, going with the more mature 3.5 version would be less prone to additional problems.

I've finally gotten to tackle this topic and I have succeeded at backported it to .net 3.5.

A couple of issues remain to be closed (for example, running the backported version on systems that ran already the 4.5 version fails because some .net-generated config files in appdata point to the wrong framework version).

Once that is through, there will be a new release.
