tempo2's Issues

Residual Calculation

Can you please provide some description about residual calculation inTEMPO 2? Please provide some insights than what is given in TEMPO 2 manual. For example how the phi and N used in the formula of residual calculated by the algorithm used.

Bug TEMPO2 with saving new timfiles

A common line in my file.tim is, for example: "/home/jovyan/work/shared/PuGli-S/J0742-2822/pfds/A2/prepfold_timing_A2_20191123_044901_PSR_0742-2822.pfd 1428.43750000 58810.35523998446999983 57.41600 iar2".

However, when I save a new file.tim with the tempo2 interface, this line becomes the following:
"/home/jovyan/work/shared/PuGli-S/J0742-2822/pfds/A2/prepfold_timing_A2_20191123_044901_PSR_0742-2822.pfd 1428.43750000 58810.35523998446999983 57.41600 iar2 -S/J0742-2822/pfds/A2/prepfold_t-selectAll 1428.4375".
Clearly, it adds "-S/J0742-2822/pfds/A2/prepfold_t-selectAll 1428.4375" to every line, probably because it is missinterpreting the "-" of "PuGli-S" as a command line.

Segmentation fault (core dumped)

I can use GWdipolebkgrd and also GWgeneralbkgrd plugins to simulate some pulsar timing affected
by gravitational waves but unfortunately GWanisobkgrd and GWgeneralanisobkgrd do not work and a core dump error show up in Tempo2. I have tried to install a newer version of Tempo2 by replacing
Tempo2 2014 with Tempo2 2016 but it did not fix the problem.

Here is the output of my terminal:

issa@ubuntu:~/Desktop/test/GW$ tempo2 -gr GWanisobkgrd -f psr1.par psr1.simulate.tim
-dist 1 -gwamp 1e-15 -alpha -0.666666 -harmfile BkgrdHarmonics -ngw 1000 -plot

What is the problem?!

Not enough memory to allocate room!

I have installed a new version of tempo2 :
2014.11.1
and fortunately psrchvie configuration has recognized tempo2 but! when I'm running tempo2 this message shows up:

Not enough memory to allocate room for 20000 observations
Please decrease the value of MAX_OBSN_VAL in tempo2.h or use -nobs on the command line
You can also decrease the number of pulsars being stored in memory using -npsr
Note: 1 observation requires 4.515625 kBytes, you request 88.195801 MBytes

while previous version of tempo2 was running correctly. I have done "tempo2 -nobs" but returned : core dump!

also I have decreased the MAX_OBSN_VAL in tempo2.h , didn't work too . whats wrong?
thank's
