RWio for 3ds max
================

This is an RW im-/exporter for 3ds max with support for GTA.

# How to build

Get premake5. Edit premake5.lua and have the projects point to your SDK version.
Build librw and librwgta (both on github) for the win-amd64-null or
win-x86-null platform and set the LIBRW and LIBRWGTA environment variables
to point to the respective directories.
Generate a VS project and build the version you need.

Dummy helper bones

Selecting an entire hierarchy of dummy helpers and attempting to export with “ Export Skinning” crashes 3ds max. I’ve tried exporting with different things selected, as well as different settings, but they either only export with the first helper of the hierarchy, or they export the entire hierarchy without the skin, or it crashes 3dsmax.

RW file of Japanese game company

In Japan, many games were made using RenderWare in the PS2 era. DFF can't load well, maybe they changed their format independently. Also, there are many cases where ANM cannot be loaded even if DFF can be loaded.
*ANM has been tested using TGE scripts.

I know this plugin is focused on the GTA series, but there are many games made with these DFF and ANM specifications, so it would be great if they were available.
I am especially happy if ANM can be used. There are so many animations.

Hagane\ sample can be loaded with DFF, but not with ANM.
Inu\ samples cannot be loaded for both DFF and ANM.
I can prepare more samples as needed.

anm support?

I wanted to ask a question because it is not specified, but is *.anm(header 0x1B) currently supported? I tried to introduce the public version 3.3 to 3dsmax, but it seems that only dff can be imported.

It has been confirmed that importing and exporting is possible by adding a TGE plug. Thanks for the great plugin!

RWIO crashes on importing .dffs | 3ds 2021

I've zipped the dump files mentioned on the crash report:

The crash happens when I try to import any .dff from GTA: San Andreas (I tried importing santahouse05_law2.dff).
Updated KAM scripts can import .dff's just fine, this only happens on RWIO :/.

3dsmax 2019?

hellow your fourm post says this should work in 3dsMax 2019 but there is no DLL for 2019. in fact it seems to skip over it?

Hierarchy Sibling Import Error

On initial import of a model, in Max, the siblings are reversed in the hierarchy. Exporting and then reimporting fixes this and it remains consistent with dff exports made with this tool. This is assumedly an issue with SDK exported models. On export, all models appear fine so this is really only an issue that shows up in Max and came up due to .ANM I/O script I created.

I've attached some examples as well as the script and a few .ANM files, just to demonstrate. Each is an import and reexport of the previous for reference.
