mdxp's Issues

ERR_OSSL_EVP_UNSUPPORTED when using Node 17

´´´npm run start``` results in this error when using Node 17.9 (but also 17.0, so probably all Node 17 version), I had to switch to Node 16. Tested on an M1 Mac with macOS 12.3.1.

Install error "create-webpack: command not found"

Looks excellent, but I can't even install the starter project (macOS 11.2.3, M1 MacBook Pro), since I'm getting an "sh: create-webpack: command not found" error. The whole log is below. I tried both npx @mdxp/create-webpack -g my_presentation and npm init @mdxp/webpack -g my_presentation.

Support React 17 as a peer dependency

Hello !
I can't install mdxp in my app that uses React 17 (unless I install --force).

Would it be possible to add React 17 in the list of supported versions for React as a peer dependency ?

I know this isn't a common use case, but MDXP is the only react presentation library that I can use somewhat easily inside another app (and with MDX). And since React 17 has very few breaking changes, this shouldn't be too risky.

Code syntax highlighting

Looks like syntax-highlighting isn't supported. In my presentation.mdx file I added the ```ts and the code block isn't highlighted with TypesScript syntax highlighting. I tried other languages as well.

Switch from Webpack to Turbopack or Vite

What do you think about using Turbopack or Vite instead of Webpack?

Maybe Webpack is not the fastest, something that is possible to change with Turbopack or Vite in the future. Turbopack is currently in alpha and not yet ready for production use, but do you consider a change?

If the proposal does not sound good and you don't want to switch Webpack with Turbopack or Vite, maybe consider using SWC instead of Babel for the webpack loader.

Feature Request: Use of external template

Noticed the package used to bootstrap a new project has a default template. Would love to be able to create a new presentation based on a template hosted somewhere or from another mom package

Should I submit a PR? or should I fork?

@0phoff said over 20 months ago:

I don't have a lot of time to work on MDXP right now, but once I do, I will probably go through the entire codebase and try to update each of the packages to their newest versions.

After 20 months, I wonder if anything will move?

I want to repair a few of those issues for the courses I do. I want to publish a few slide decks for React Academy (https://www.reactacademy.live/live). So I'll be doing a major PR.

Here's I what I want to do:

  • Update to the latest version of MDX and React.
  • Make it run under Vite.
  • Make it compatible with Prism

Anything else?

Hey! This looks pretty sweet!

I was searching for something that wasn't MDX Deck and found this!

Looks like you have done a great job here than you so much, I was just trying to get my head around if I could import MDX Embed into this, I'm guessing I have to do it on a slide by slide basis?

Like with the wrapper components?
