Does this plugin work for you under a bare-bones ZSH session?

% zsh -l -f
% source zsh-history-substring-search.zsh
% echo open source
% ce<UP><UP>

yes, it works fine with bare-bones ZSH session. It seems it is a bug in oh-my-zsh in ubuntu 12.10. It is also working fine in debian 7.0 Wheezy.

any work-around for users using oh-my-zsh in ubuntu 12.10 (i have this in most of my machines)?

Sorry, I don't use oh-my-zsh. Try asking on that project's issue tracker instead. 😅

@Adarsh-Barik What did you end up doing? Doesnt fork under 13.04 either. Maybe it's time to ditch the overmassive oh-my-zsh.

@Adarsh-Barik, use Prezto.

Tarrasch avatar Tarrasch commented on May 20, 2024

Seems like @Adarsh-Barik was just clumsy and didn't even have the plugin installed. See ohmyzsh/ohmyzsh#1433 where they posted this solution that works for me too:

echo 'DEBIAN_PREVENT_KEYBOARD_CHANGES=yes' >> ~/.zshenv

The confusion I had was in the actual plugin name in the .zshrc
was supposed to be plugins(history-substring-search) and NOT plugins(zsh-history-substring-search)
