Export Sapling HDSeed about zecwallet HOT 5 CLOSED

It's not currently supported via the RPC though it is on the way.

Regardless having the HD seed would mean if anyone forgot to backup a private key after generating a new Sapling address then in the future they could recover their funds.

I agree, the addresses should be exported individually as you have them. This is how z_exportwallet works, it exports all individual private keys but also includes the HDSeed.

Hmm... The HD seed is not available via API. It needs to be read from a file that zcashd exports (and I think zcashd needs to be started with -exportdir)

This presents difficulties (what if zcashd is remote?). I wonder if I can just submit a pull request to zcashd to add an RPC for the HD key?

Right, I thought it was available via getwalletinfo but that's just the fingerprint (edit, as pointed out in the chat that would be really silly)

In that case, I'd guess when there is support for importing a HD seed there would likely be an option to export it too so might have to wait. I'll ask for clarification, in case there is a way already.
