When View sets up its delegated event listeners, it explicitly specifies the current View instance as the this object that should be used when handlers are called. Unfortunately, some synthetic events like gesturemovestart use a special method signature for setting up listeners, and View has no way of knowing this.

I feel pretty strongly that events should stick to a common method signature, but that ship has sailed. Short of baking knowledge about every single special-case event into View itself, there's not really any way for View to deal with this. Sorry.

The best workaround for now is to attach these events manually in your View's initializer() method, or in another method called by your initializer.
