This should not have any affect. Just pass in an SRT file with another language and it should work.

@xat yeah, I just tested it, it doesn't work. the .srt file is in utf-8. That's weird. What can I do to help you debug this?

the subtitles show up on my tv... but with strange characters.

seems to be something with the srt to vtt conversion. a vtt with chinese characters worked fine.
