Funny, found this via Google, Giving up. Parser stack overflow is New Zealand being too big for the GeoJson parser to deal with.
A workaround is to simplify the geometries first: https://github.com/missinglink/wof-spatialite/blob/master/spatialite.sh#L379-L391

If you want to submit a patch to simplify geometries on ingest that would be cool but this is neither a bug in (this) code or the data. It's a problem with the computers. Related:
