JavaScript errors cause maps not to render in IE about dynmap HOT 4 CLOSED

Same problem here with IE 8.0.7600.

IE is such a pain huh.. Funny thing is the Dynmap even works great in the iPhone browser.

Yes, it also works great on my Android. I've done some attempts to make IE work, but it is very hard for me to pinpoint the incompatibilities in IE. IE has incorrect error-messages AND it doesn't have any debugging tools of 'ok'-quality, unlike Chrome, Safari, Firefox. Opera has just correct error-codes, but Opera has such good HTML compliance. I had not tested it all on Opera until now... and what do you know? It just works.

So, I've been talking on IRC with some of the other Dynmap users/developers about IE support. We concluded that we could spend a lot of time to support IE, which would cost features and general bug-fixes for Dynmap in the end.

IE9 is coming 'soon' (RC is out) and I'm just hoping that version is somewhat more HTML compliant, which will hopefully result in Dynmap running just great on IE.

So, the conclusion: I'll just wait for IE9. When that also is incompatible with Dynmap, I'll try to make that work, but for the moment it takes too much time to fix Dynmap for IE8 and that will only be for a couple of weeks (I hope) because IE9 will be out by then.

IE 9 RC tested with dynmap 0.12.1: It works!!!

Wee! Thanks for testing :D. Reports like this makes my day! I'll wait before IE9 is out before closing this.
