aws cloudfront console -> distributions -> select ID -> TAB Invalidation -> create Invalidation -> /index.html -> create Invalidation

そうですね。cloudfrontを使う場合はinvalidateする必要があります。
もし面倒なら、backend/bin/config.tsで
export const USE_CDN = false
とするとcloudfrontを使わなくなります。
