Re-thinking xdu as a generic visualization tool about xdu HOT 3 CLOSED

I would like it if xdu could give the first file or url link as output back so we could send it elsewhere, e.g. firefox to open that website, or to emacs to open that file or evince to open that pdf, for example.

My main use cases are anyway often only:

• website, going to firefox
• text file, going to emacs
• pdf file, going to evince

This could be achieved by (optionally?) sending the item at point to xdg-open which uses the default app associated with the file type.

However, please note that @michaelsjackson's request is less general than my feature request above since my feature request does not only refer to whole directories or files but also parts of a file (org, JSON, XML, ...).
