I didn't wanted to comment before, but the initial implementation of plugins in Tufão 1.x (my local repos) actually called unload. But the new plugin system made the application hung on some cases. Hunting down the problem I found the solution to remove the "QPluginLoader::unload" line. It was one of the first releases of Qt and I just waited for it be fixed.
The correct approach would be to hunt down the bug all the way (including ArchLinux's packaging, Qt's abstraction for Linux shared objects and Qt Core). My approach was even wronger, because I didn't even filled a bug.
Anyway, another day, another bug killed. I cannot reproduce the problem anymore, then I'll assume the mysterious bug was fixed.
