So I guess I misunderstood the functionality of get_dtypes(), could you please explain it to me and show me how to use it? My attempts above were not successful.

Unlike the other get_ functions which return vectors of numbers, get_dtypes() returns a vector of std::unordered_maps which counts the occurrences of each data type.

so I should be able to iterate and print it out with it, or?

std::unordered_map<std::string, csv::DataType >::iterator it = colDataTypes.begin();
while(it != colDataTypes.end())
{
    std::cout << it->first << " : " << it->second << std::endl;
    it++;
}

I got it working with:

std::cout << "Columns data types:" << std::endl;
for (auto i = 0; i < colNames.size(); i++)
{
   for (auto item : colDataTypes[i])
   {
       std::cout << colNames[i] << " : " << item.first << std::endl;
   }
}

My output looks like this and it is correct.
Columns data types:
id : 2
name : 1
num1 : 2
num2 : 5
encNum1 : 0
encNum2 : 0

How can I convert the datatype numbers to be shown as int, string, double etc.?

Call csv::internals::type_name() on the data type numbers, or write your own function which prints out the string representation.

Thanks, that did the trick.
