Among what is currently possible in the game, I though about the following:
- One or more chests surrounded by rock
- A room full of boxes
- An npc trapped between rocks with a pack besides them
- "Mini bosses" - strong versions of current monsters that appear randomly
If we added some AIs that do not wander around, it would be possible to make encounters with groups of monsters too. For instance, lots of slimes protecting a chest.
If we added doors, we could have "surprise rooms". A door could be a heavily armored body that a Key card can destroy. It would need an improved map generation that avoids deadlocks.
