This is how WPS sees Colombo's build/urban cover category (red =1). That's why we need, at the first step, to get a better land cover data

it would be good to open this issue in the COSMA repo so people can be aware of it.
meanwhile, we can this discussion here (i.e., in WRF-SUEWS) to communication of this specific run; once it's more in shape, we move/export the Colombo results there (i.e., to NERC-COSMA).

Here are the land cover map for three category: Building, Green, and water for Colombo from three different sources. I still need to get the map to extract the paved (roads):

@sunt05 Have you had experience in converting raster to vector with QGIS? I am trying to convert the Colombo GUF data which is in raster format to vector format, and it's been more than 1 hour in this status?

The raster file is in high resolution and its size is around 14 mb

I was able to change it to vector format. However, after extracting the paved part of the map, I have been trying to do Union for all the land cover data, and it seems since they are in very high resolution, it takes a long time. So instead, I have submitted a job in Jasmin for this purpose, and let's see if the Union would be successful. If not, we need to figure out something else.

From which data can we estimate the wind direction over colombo to calcualte the land cover fraction?
