It will be possible to implement this in a different way for the default networking. It won't have the nice property of dealing nicely with long requests or thread pooling, but it will allow things to run on the server in parallel. A couple of options:
- Simply side-step the network queue for anything marked parallel, and send as many as we can down the normal pipeline. This will revert to what ppl expect for parallel processing, but will use the web server's thread pool and have the 30 second timeout problem.
- Combine the requests as we currently do, but in an alternate data structure where the parallel bits are marked that way, then do the parallelism on the server. This would cause the slowest to block the fastest, so I don't prefer it.

A better version is in 0.4.9-SNAPSHOT now. We'll doll it up a bit more when websockets are available.
