Question, I haven't tried the windows version but could these issues be specific to OS X?

They are. I also have not seen them on my testing machine. I think this one and #15 are related and your 3D view seems not to update properly. Can you run the application from a terminal and give me the log output?

The Mac issues are really blocking normal usage (this view issue isn't as critical as the ability to rotate parts and such).

If it's not specific to my machine it might be quicker to ask any colleague with an Macbook that is in the same building as you are.

Just checked with a colleagues' MacBook where everything seems to work as intended.

Do you happen to run on a MacBook with high DPI screen (Retina)? That might at least explain the view size issue.

ErikDeBruijn avatar ErikDeBruijn commented on September 7, 2024

I've been able to try it in a different Mac and the fact that I thought this was a major bug is because of a combination of factors:

  • The mouse press actually needed to be where the object was supposed to be, not more towards the lower left quarter of the screen.
  • I had not expected that I couldn't drag an object without first clicking on it to select it. I have no idea why you wouldn't want dragging to be possible before selecting the object.

This made it nearly impossible for me to operate on objects.

The first bit should be fixed now that the viewport sizing is fixed as well. The second bit should also be fixed in the 15.05.93 build though it feels slightly wonky with the camera animation.

ErikDeBruijn avatar ErikDeBruijn commented on September 7, 2024

@awhiemstra indeed it is fixed. It's a bit wonky perhaps, but very usable. Scale and rotate also work!
