Err... It's like if you're making them disappear with the swipe gesture. Not sure if it's "logical" here. And we use the swipe gesture already to change columns.

Oh, right. I forgot about changing columns, because I rarely use it.
Other than that I don't think the swiping gesture is illogical. You
"sort" your timeline in favs, RTs and read, by either swiping left,
right or down(scrolling), thereby "working through" your timeline.
Swiping cards to the side doesn't always have to be associated with
discarding/deleting or archiving items. For example Samsung used to have
their address book on Android working this way, with swiping a contact
in one direction initiating a call, while swiping in the other direction
would message them (not sure, whether this is still the case).

We have one click action to fav/RT in future releases, so it's not needed to use swipe gesture.
