Mythtv expects the config to be in ~/.mythtv with the name of the videosource and extension .xmltv.
What operating system are you using? Under linux the frontend program is placed in /usr/bin and thus in the path. Under mac and Windows I'm not sure about the location and whether that is in the path. Under Windows you'll have to manually update the path to include the place where Python stores its scripts.

I saw your removed comment. "Error in 1:1: unexpected end of file" points to an xml error in the output so attach your xmltv output file.

Where to find the xmltv output file? According to the wiki -> stdout but no clue where to find file

stdout is the screen, but mythtv uses the --output option to send it to a file I think in \tmp, but could be \var\tmp. Just look there for a file owned by you mythtv user.
Did you enable your wanted channels in your configuration? For if not that could give such an error.
