Thanks @kbtombul, I wasn't aware of this.
I want this package to behave in parallel to markdown-preview.
That is, an export should be possible if you can open a preview window by doing Markdown Preview: Toggle. Since you can do this with an unsaved buffer, you are right to raise an this issue and #12.

Since the file is unsaved, I have the exported pdf saved with a unique temporary name in the directory currently active in tree-view.
This should be sufficient, so I'll close this issue.
