That looks like it's in the extra_arguments field parsing step. Here is the only test file I am currently using to test that part of the code: https://github.com/transcend-io/terragrunt-atlantis-config/blob/master/test_examples/extra_arguments/child/terragrunt.hcl

My quick guess would be that this error would come up if your extra_arguments block did not include a required_var_files subfield. Does the module in question have a block with only optional var files?

I can add some extra tests for this and it should be pretty easy to figure out, but if you can confirm that question for me it would be appreciated

I can confirm that when I added a test without required_var_files, I saw a similar error to the one you have here.
