hi again, it's really hard to believe this feature is not getting any interest at all. I'd like to upgrade from original version of the script since this new version got many new interesting features (especially https) but this one is still missing. Is no one really interested about this original feature of the old script?

It's not lack of interest, I just haven't had much time for the addon until recently. In the old plugin, you would just choose the folder path and it would ignore anything in there, correct?

exactly, by default there were 3 excluded folder paths you could set to recursively ignore anything you played within and no data was then processed further to trakt website. it's also good as it helps to save unnecessary website queries (at least from user perspective :)
i.e.
setting id="ExcludePathOption" value="true"
setting id="ExcludePath" value="pvr://channels/"
