I removed the constraint and it now seems to work. I think it is only needed 
when
deleting a main account. Isn't it?

You can use rcmail_accounts. Just edit the sql script accordingly.

No, that seems not be enough.
$rcmail_config['db_table_accounts'] = 'rcmail_accounts';
seems to have no influence on the query made by the accounts plugin. The query 
always wants to look up data in `db`.`accounts`.

$rcmail_config['db_table_accounts'] = 'rcmail_accounts';

Works for me! Did you edit config.inc.php or config.inc.dist?

That's great to hear. So it must be something in my installation.
Will try a clean install some time.
I edited config.inc.php.
