The Maven files are from the desktop version of Logback. Ideally, I'd like to use the same build system (just like slf4j-android does: https://github.com/twwwt/slf4j/blob/master/slf4j-android/pom.xml), but I haven't had the time to learn how that works. Ant was easy enough for me to work with. The proper way to build is with Ant, as indicated by the README.
I'm not sure what you mean about the Android SDK build. Can you clarify?

The new android sdk (r14+) has changed the form of the build.xml
I have made a fork where I will post an example of a modified build.xml
from logback-android.
Interesting. I'm looking forward to it.

I got it to build but I had to tweak android-sdk-linux/tools/ant/build.xml which isn't going to fly generally.
In the previous build.xml you copied the compile target into the build script.
Maybe I will do the same.
I'm still trying to grok github so I may not have done the fork of your repository correctly.
In any case the fork with my updates is here https://github.com/phreed/logback-android

Thanks for the heads up. I ended up taking an easier route to update. See daa639d
