I’m not sure about this. You’re always at the centre of the main screen. Is there a use case you’re thinking of particularly?

You could just stick an icon there on your desktop :P

Two specific use cases come to mind:
- Work in downtown Manhattan and "interesting geography" is uptown. Want to render map off-center.
- Desktop shortcuts in the way, and want to render map off-center.
@bobthecow's workaround is good for now though :)

Also, if you have a multimonitor setup, the map wraps around the monitors, and its not clear where you are (which, I assume, is the center of the primary monitor)
