Hi Ben, what's the benefit of having tinycon in Debian?
from tinycon.
This will expand your user base and strengthen development. Debian developers typically contribute back upstream as we strive to improve our packages to serve our users. A pair of packages in Debian would depend on it: taskwarrior-web, which I am packaging, and etherpad-lite, which Mike is packaging. Our downstreams (Ubuntu, etc.) obviously all benefit as well, as it is trivial for them to include our packages if they wish.

/me nods. Actually not having tinycon in Debian will block packaging of the named upstream projects (etherpad-lite,.taskwarrior-web). In Debian we provide software through the distro's packaging system (dpkg). In Debian stable, only software that gets deployed via dpkg has undergone a thorough review process. This is the gift the Debian Developers give to their users (and to Ubuntu users, Mint users, Kanotix users, etc.). Deploying software without dpkg is possible (e.g. using npm), but lacks this extra scrutiny.
For larger Node.js projects we have to pull in many little to medium node-* upstream projects as Debian packages. tinycon is one of them and I hope that you will benefit from your user base being widened.
