+1 for adding "recent developments & outlook" topic

"Current developments and their impact on Open Source Software": besides OSPO in new sectors, regional efforts could also be an intresting angle too.

  • open source gaining tracking and attending in the public sector and Universities
  • OSPO status&efforts in different region

Also, personally I would suggest to move the content of [Apendix A] (A detailed perspective of open source in Public Administrations) and [Appendix B] (A broader view of open source in Universities and public admins: Open Work) in chapter 2 to the new "open source gaining tracking and attending in the public sector and Universities ".

@gkunz I'm thinking that maybe these topics can be asked during the interviews (WIP to be scheduled) and included as questions in the questionnaire.md. This way, we can collect responses from various OSPOers and people collaborating with OSPOs and I can put together a set of recommendations based on their answers.

That can be added as a "final remarks" or "conclusion" chapter

Nice suggestions @arnuojo ! By reading past @gkunz 's comments and your idea on including OSPOs in public sector / universities as well as OSPO regional efforts around the world, I'm thinking about dividing the chapter into the following sections:

  1. Current developments and their impact on Open Source Software
  • A view of open source in Public Administrations
    • Include some of the studies and report done by Open Forum Europe and LF Europe
  • A view of open source in Universities: Open Work
    • Include the recent use cases done by OSPO ++ community
  • OSPO Regional efforts
    • Include the use case from the Dutch OSPO, Local communities such as the OSPO Japanese Meetup, the OSPO SIG APAC local community in China, etc
  1. Outlook and future developments
  • Upcoming AI and its impact on open source
    • Include the work done by Open SOurce Initiative and the Open AI definition
  • How will open source software evolve going forward?
  • How will OSPO need to evolve going forward?

What do you think? we can use this issue to store new references that might be useful to include on each section :)

Hi @arnuojo, I agree with your suggestions.

@anajsana: yes, we can structure the chapter like this. I am wondering, though: do you recommend not to include the first two bullets of the proposed "current developments": regulation and the recent changes in licenses?

@anajsana sounds great, it could be a nice link between global communities and also a good opportunity to evlove local communities in.
