Ya I like this idea. Out of curiosity: what are you using hostFromClusterNetwork for? I ask because some of the use-cases I've heard are WILD.

I'm not using it directly, but when trying to run knative/serving e2e tests against a local cluster, I needed to provide a registry url that is accessible both for containerd image pulls AND for controllers to talk to. In the current setup, localhost works for containerd, but the controllers can't reach the registry on localhost.
More broadly, ctlptl would be useful in test so you can do stuff like this: https://github.com/google/ko/blob/cde258294ff7be831199f61e6f6e8cc6ed17f564/.github/workflows/kind-e2e.yaml
