Good question! The library should be robust to this, but the thing you're doing "wrong" is supplying /db/data in the URL to the GraphDatabase constructor when it expects to get the root URL. So just remove the /db/data part and it should hopefully work.

Thanks! Now it works.
The code was so hard to read that I didn't figure out it could be because of that.

Sorry to hear -- what made the code hard to read? This area in particular -- parsing URLs, etc. -- is a bit spaghetti-code-ish because every request needs to be "wrapped" to support HTTP Basic Auth, since Neo4j's hypermedia links in responses don't maintain that info.
