Also if you mark item as "read" it then just vanishes even though it is still focused. It would be better if the item would vanish only when you select another item (in case you marked it accidentally and want to unmark but it already vanished).

I fixed the hard crash in git. Thanks for the report.
The annoying item disappearance stuff is known. The daemon was saving the selection in a racy manner so the logic has to be moved over. It's my next task.
