I believe this is a known issue. I was experimenting with fading out the
previous year and fading in the next one. It wasn't working to well though,
as you saw. I guess that got merged onto the master somehow?
Something I noticed after downloading the latest commits (post merge of my
PR)

It's only for a very brief moment after switching years. It happened too
quickly to use the screenshot function, so I ended up recording a short
clip, pausing it on the playback and taking a picture.
