Hi @max-l,

It looks like you may be falling into one of the only arguments I agree with for using semicolons (;) in javascript:

test('useEmailAddressState', done => {
  const {result} = renderHook(() => useEmailAddressState())
  let [email, isInvalid, setEmail] = result.current
  expect(email).toEqual('')
  act(() => {
    setEmail("pwerofw0")
  }) // no ; here makes the next line part of this line
  [email, isInvalid, setEmail] = result.current
  expect(isInvalid).toEqual(true)
  done()
})

It's like having that line read:

act(() => {
  setEmail("pwerofw0")
})[email, isInvalid, setEmail] = result.current // not what you want

The annoying part is that javascript is more than happy to let that line run without any issues or warnings (but how was is supposed to know you didn't want to do that?).

Anyway, stick a semicolon in and the test will pass

You can write the test as:

test('useEmailAddressState', done => {
  const {result} = renderHook(() => useEmailAddressState())
  let [email, isInvalid, setEmail] = result.current
  expect(email).toEqual('')
  act(() => {
    setEmail("pwerofw0")
  });
  [email, isInvalid, setEmail] = result.current
  expect(isInvalid).toEqual(true)
  done()
})
