If you're having trouble with it, please describe the steps you took and expected behavior in a thread on the forum instead of opening an unclear bug.
It doesn't actually test whether the erase command completed, so it always displays that message. That's an actionable issue and I've updated the bug to reflect that.

I'm not sure how this is unclear. tessel erase does not erase my existing usercode on the device. And it displays no informational error, so there's nothing else I can tell you.
