I agree. Camera just blacks out whether autorized or not. Unless re-rendered

Sorry. Please use https://github.com/zoontek/react-native-permissions to prompt for permissions prior to rendering the camera.
In future versions all permission integrations will be removed due to the complexity of managing them - both Andriod and iOS keep changing how permissions are managed, and the flow diagram that zoontek provides demonstrates how complicated it gets. There's no such thing as "just prompt the user", you'll need to manage it depending on how you use the camera (integrated into a page / as a modal / with a soft warning first / saving to camera roll / etc).

I will update the README to provide better guidance here. We should also update the example project so it's clear.
