If you want to include all of the helpers you might as well use require('express-helpers')(app);
This module is not middleware so you cannot use app.use()
on it.
I would suggest the require method as well since that will initialize all of your locals at app load rather than every request.
However if you would like to use 3.0 style single helpers then you can do this
var helpers = require('express-helpers')();
app.locals.date_tag = helpers.date_tag;
I will update the docs to reflect this.
