It appears this error appears with the version of pyang that can be downloaded from http://code.google.com/p/pyang/ but not with the version that is shipped with confd. Do you have any possibility of trying this out with the confd version?

re-match() is a function added by tail-f. It is not part of the standard XPath functions. As Emil writes, please use the pyang version that ships with ConfD.

As ConfD is not open source are these changes going to be contributed to the google pyang? In the short term can this project bundle the ConfD pyang, so that it is self contained?

No we can't do that... Instead I added a new flag to pyang: --lax-xpath-checks. Please check out the latest version of pyang. Hope this solves your problem.

Using latest pyang from the source code fixes this issue, thanks.
