Any update/solutions for this? We have same problem with mail over 500kB and 128MB memory limit.

I believe there's some sort of memory leak in Swift that I cannot trace. I debugged this by sending the same email over and over again in the same script, and outputting get_memory_usage() between each send. I saw an increase of a few hundreds of bytes each time.
I switched to phpMailer instead, and the same test with the same email content shows zero memory usage increase.
