swaylock isn't supposed to call convert.
Can you run swaylock -d >swaylock.log 2>&1 and upload the full log?

The log appears to be more of the same, it will continue indefinitely. Using ctrl+c doesn't work so I have to close the terminal or sigkill. I just uninstalled and reinstalled swaylock from Arch's repository and verified that it was removed from /usr/bin/ before re installation.

Doing a bit more digging I've found that each cycle in the spam spawns a new tmp.stringhere file in /tmp/. All of these files are empty.

Something seems wrong with your setup. This is what I get when I run swaylock -d:

Since you don't even have the first line, it doesn't seem like you're running swaylock.
