Hi folks make sure you install libjemalloc-dev..

for ubuntu

sudo apt-get install libjemalloc-dev

and also make sure you have the build-essentials
e.g. ubuntu

sudo apt install build-essential

I ran into this problem with ubuntu20.04 compilation as well

I switched to the polkadot-v0.9.17 tag and compiled properly

from substrate-node-template.

Kind of same issue here on Fedora 34 after switching to polkadot-v0.9.17 solves the issue
