I currently plan to just raise the allowed minimum color temperature to 2200K. This way we loose some color space of the "Extended Color Light" series, but stay consistent if you mix the two series in one schedule.
Thoughts?

That would work for our light setup, but I can't speak for users of other bulb types. I know that we do value the warmer end of our lighting options. Not sure how perceptible a reduced range of 200K will be for users of lights that can go down to 2000K. Thanks for the follow up!

I did some testing of the color difference between 2000K and 2200K and it is definitely noticeable. Like @bryanmahler said, I believe users value the lower end of the color spectrum too.
So I changed the plan and implemented a dynamic lower limit depending on the type of light. This way you might end up with a slightly unbalanced scene if you mix different types of lights. This can be fixed by limiting Kelvin to 2200K in your config. Overall I seems to be the better solution though.
