Hey, sorry for the late reply, it took me a long time to figure out exactly how to get this done.
I pushed an initial version to develop and linked it to the 'Autohide' menu option. The minimap should now stay hidden for files smaller than one page, the assistant and version editors, and the refactoring window.
It would be awesome if you could help me test it out and please let me know if I missed something.
