Regarding our prior conversation in which you stated you were using Ubuntu 10.04, I decided to do a little preliminary testing now rather than later.
So far, I'm having trouble duplicating this on a fresh, asymmetric dual-head Ubuntu 10.04 setup in VirtualBox. Could you look through your Metacity settings to see if there's anything you set and forgot about which might be causing this?

Ahh, beautiful. I found it! With /apps/metacity/general/disable_workarounds set to true (which I don't ever remember changing) then the move request is ignored. With it set to false, the windows are moved correctly.
