Also FYI the suggested docs link https://docs.connect.squareup.com/api/connect/v2/#requestandresponseheaders redirects to some new docs but loses the context, so the link is kind of useless now.

Update: when I change the environment to production the request works correctly.

Update: the error is caused by having a mismatch between the Square API domain, client ID, or access token. When working between production and sandbox, all of these things need to change. This includes authorizations that are performed using Square Connect (authorizations created using production context will not work for sandbox, requires re-auth).
