Actually the setup.py does include gevent dependency at line 44.
But maybe you were not able to compile gevent because you miss the libevent librairies.
If you are on a Debian like system you can try to run apt-get install libevent-dev
from grequests.
I my case I was on OS X, where the solution is to install the libs using brew. Still, the setup should fail with a message that tell you what to do. Idealy I could try to install the dependency itself but I am sure there are people that would not enjoy this idea.
