what is the difference between Calculator::Vat and Calculator::SalesTax ? about spree HOT 1 CLOSED

I have been wondering that too.

I came to the conclusion that a different Class (ie VAT and Sales) was created due to lack of understanding. (as the vat stuff has clearly been done by someone who has never run a shop in europe)

The real difference is tax in versus tax added after. The tax in prices are definitely needed in Europe.
It seems though that spree still doesn't take Europe so seriously, because the tax calculation is still not working after a year, so the issue may just as well be closed.

On the other hand, maybe the classes could just be merged and VAT finally done right.
