Hey @adavanisanti

This extension:

  • uses newer PayPal API
  • also supports Credit Cards via Braintree
  • supports PayPal Express Checkout (PayPal button on cart allowing to skip the whole checkout altogether)

Of course—the simple difference is that paypal does not support payment profiles. This simple missing feature is reason enough to use Braintree over PayPal.

Hi - Could you explain the main differences between this extension and better_spree_paypal_express? One of the problems I saw with better spree paypal: if the customer does not come back from the paypal checkout page and press on complete order then the order state remains inconsistent.

Thanks
Santi

Thanks @damianlegawiec and @michaelburtonray for the feedback. Couple of follow up questions on paypal express checkout:

  1. Since the Paypal express button is on the cart page, customer would not know the shipping charges when he is entering his paypal information. Isn't that confusing?
  2. Is there a way to let the customer know that the final charges to his/her credit card may change based on the shipping charges in the Paypal screen?

@adavanisanti

  1. customer lands on the confirm step with all information presented there (like shipping rates and so on)
  2. we don't charge the customer anything unless he or she clicks place order on confirm screen
